Hello. I have done some research online and haven't found an answer that works for me yet so I though I would make a thread here with hopes of recovering data from this drive.

History:
Comes from Dell Inspirion One system that worked fine. A few days ago I had a couple of issues where it wouldn't load chrome, etc. Started working after a couple of reboots and didn't think anything else of it. This morning, my son was playing Minecraft and got BSOD. Upon reboot and on subsequent reboots, got "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media".
Went into BIOS and it is not recognized. SATA 1 shows as none/empty.
Still makes sounds and seems to be spinning. No crazy noises or anything like that and not completely dead.
I have researched and saw the firmware update issue, but that seems to be with the 7200.11. It also seems to late for that now regardless.
PC is working fine with another HDD so the issue is the Seagate HDD.
Apparently auto backup was turned off (I know how dumb this is now) and a lot of children photos, docs would be gone if no recovery, which would suck bad. I don't have several hundred dollars to pay someone to recover the data.
Would it be worth it to purchase a SATA to USB cord/docking station to see if it is recognized as an external HDD? From other threads I have seen, this didn't work but if there is a chance I am willing to take it. Does giving the hard drive time and trying later ever work? I am not an expert but have basic PC knowledge and can switch out parts, follow direct instructions, etc.
Can anyone help me get the data off or point me in the right direction?
