it's SAMSUNG 80GB HDD SATA.

MODEL - HD080HJ/P

definitely not encrypted by the HDD itself
does it came in an enclosure ?

So if the customer says he did not do anything, why do you think it is encrypted? You will need to supply many more details.

such as like jermy says, enclosure? Yes/no

if yes, the make and model, and possibly a photo of both sides of enclosure USB board PCB

everything about the encryption you can think of.. Truecrypt? Bitlocker? other?

is the HDD locked maybe?
