Hello, I'm new to this Forum so please bear with me if I do not understand everything write away.

I have the hdd mentioned in the subject which is mounted in an external cover. It should work on a USB 3.0 port. However it doesn't. It works okay on a USB 2 port read/write. I formatted the drive on a USB 2 port. But when I move the device to a USB 3.0 port it can only read the data. When I want to write on the hdd it just doesn't write without an error code. I used also the SeaTools for Windows program to find out about the hdd. However the SeaTools for Windows does not find the hdd.

The Firmware of the hdd is: 2AR10002. The Serial number is: S2RXj9CD106635. I'm using a ThinkPad T430 with Windows 10 at the latest release.

I have no plan where to start in order to fix this Problem. So let me know if you need more Information. Any help would be apreciated.

Regards, viahdd.

i have found a couple of issues that windows 10 have with some usb 3.0 controllers, have you tried to read/write to another device through the usb 3.0 port? the external device being USB 3.0 too?, have you tried to read/write to this external drive of yours using another computer USB 3.0 port?

@Izualim, yes. I have tried to write to the hdd on another computer without success. I'm able to write to a USB 3.0 stick on the same port where the hdd is not working. I'll have another hdd USB 3.0 cover on order. I'll try this one as soon as I have it.

Hello, now I have tested a few Things. I have connected another USB 3.0 external HDD to the Laptop port and it works just fine. I used the SeaTool to test the good HDD and everything works okay. So I asume it is not a problem with my Laptop or the Windows 10 System.

I used the cable from the working HDD on the not working HDD without success. I used the cable form the not working device on the good HDD and it works just fine. So I think the cable is also okay.

I think it must be something with either the ST1000LM024 or the logic in the case. May be there is a newer Firmware available for this device. However I have no idea where to find it nor do I now how to change such a firmware. Therefore any hlep would be very much apreciated.

One last fact which is may be important. When I connect the not working device, it will not be recogniced by the SeaTool program.

Regards, viahdd.
