First of I know about dangers of failing hard drive, i make backups.

I just scanned and got failed sectors , i want to exclude them from partitions and keep them in unused spaced with about 500 MB on each side. How i can go about it? I tried few programs like Acronis Disk Director and other similar to Partition Magic however none of them allows you enter particular LBA as boundary for partition so its a game creating partitions then scanning them for bad sectors resizing etc.

Image

I'd like a piece of software with GUI where i can specify area of disk for partition and say e.g. paritiona 1 0 - 32000 MB (LBA 0 - 66120000) then parition 2 33000 - 53000 MB (LBA 1500000000 - 99999999) etc.

So far i only found "RepartitionBadDrive"
Image

It does what i need however it will wipe full disk and i don't want that, i'd rather manually make partitions like i mentioned above, do you know Parition Manager software that allows enter or shows LBA / MB position of partition on hard drive?

Code:

I can show you how to do what you want with a disc editor (eg DMDE, freeware). It has a Windows GUI.

http://dmde.com/

Just tell us where each partition should begin and end, and the file system type. I'm assuming it will be an MBR system.

Before you start to do this re partitioning, best for you is to backup your data first. Than you can start to make changes to partitions. If something went wrong you data will be safe.

Launch DMDE.

Uncheck the Show Partitions box.

Edit -> Edit Mode
Editor -> Goto Offset -> Sector = 0
Mode -> Partition Table MBR/GPT

You should now see your 4 partitions, 3 primary and 1 extended. The extended partition will contain your two logical drives.

Edit the Relative Sector and Number of Sectors for the last partition.

Drive -> Apply Changes

You will need to reboot in order for the OS to recognise the changes. Note that you will no longer be able to access E:, so make sure you have a backup.
