 Post subject: motor stuck in Samsung ST1000LM024

Samsung ST1000LM024 , sound stuck . i guessed it's head stuck but i found that motor was the stuck not heads. i can rotate the platter with tweezers but it's too heavy and slow .
any clue over here ?
i don't want to swap platters :?

Sometimes if you can spin it enough by hand it'll start turning freely, but more often the spindle is bent and it's going to have a wicked wobble even if you could free it. Platter swap time.

I did a platters swap on one of these today, patient spindle was making a horrible grinding noise and not getting to speed.

Cloning now... :-)

For a pro with the right tools, laptop drive platter swaps are relatively simple...although, still a last resort in my opinion.
