Hello,

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite L650 with hard disk Toshiba HDD2J13, MK3265GSXN. I think there is a problem with hard disk because Windows is not running. So in laptop HDD is recognized in bios (in system information) but isn't showing in boot menu. This is strange why disk I showing in bios but not showing in boot device.

But when I connect this drive to desktop by USB adapter then I have access to data (but I see some folders have strange signs in names). But when I connect this drive to desktop by SATA cable from motherboard then computer doesn't see disk in bios and windows, or MHDD. Of course motor working.
To Toshiba laptop I put another disk and bios and system are starting so this is not a problem with laptop settings.

Could you help my how I can diagnose this drive?

Regards
Marcin

Perhaps your motherboard's SATA controller cannot negotiate a SATA connection with your drive. Some SATA controllers (eg VT8237, SB850, Intel 5 & 6 series) have known problems in this regard.

My comments were in relation to your desktop SATA controller.
