Hi all

Anyone suggestion about how to clear SMART on Seagate SAS hdd's with terminal?
I try with normal terminal but have not any result.

That tool have not terminal!
Any other way to clear SMART they use?!

On SAS drive is not possible to communicate with firmware via terminal mode but only via serial binary mode.
The only way to do that is by using PC3000 SAS or HYDATA tool (probably).

Why would you want to clear SMART on a Seagate SAS? As I see it, these drives have 3 states:

1. Working
2. Almost dead
3. Dead

The line between 2 and 3 is small.

I don't have HYDATA and never used it, i just aheve heard people talking about it and see a guy called HYDATA which has posted SAS/SCSI fw resource on this forum:

I don't see the point in this exercise. The odds are, the bad sectors were an early warning sign of the fatal crash to come. Set it aside for parts.
