Hello everyone,

I'm new here and this forum was recommended to me from a friend since I have a big problem with my HDD and I really can't work since all my data are there. The HDD details are:

1 TB
Seagate
ST31000528AS

The problem seems to be that the HDD has "engraved" platters as the guy told me, 1 point somewhere in the middle and another 1 close to the end. The PC don't recognize the HDD and the guy told me that it's not possible to save any files. My files are there but he couldn't make it work so to save my data. Since those data is 12 years old work of mine and can't be replaced or create them again, I would REALLY appreciate and help and guidance on how and if there's any chance to save my files. It's really critical to me, if they are gone, I'm really done as a pro, my profession, my work...

I would appreciate any reply and also a reply from user "fzabkar" as my guy told me to ask for his opinion on this too.

Thank you very much in advance!

Then send it to a DR pro (not a computer repair shop) hopefully the that damage isn't worsened by opening the lid

Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for your replies. I went to Northwind and unfortunately they couldn't do anything as it seems that the problem makes my HDD a "non recoverable". I'm attaching photos of my HDD in which you can see the scratches on the platters and well, if anyone thinks that there's is any hope, any possibility, please let me know.

Thanks again everyone!

That drive is unrecoverable. I'm sorry to say there's no one on earth who can recover it, the data is gone.

Take it as a lesson in the importance of backup, and start rebuilding your work from scratch.
