4 were in a RAID array totalling 12TB. this was more of a media server/temp stroage area

But two of them were personal stuff. My families pictures important documents, history and everything dating back years. They were'nt raided together, but I had a manual script that would copy data from one standard drive to the other that was encrypted.

Power supply went last night and i put a new one in but only my one SSD will read. The others don't spin up. I have one of them a tap and it started spinning up now but not readable.
They're all getting power as they get warmer but .... cant see them in the bios and cant see them in windows etc.

Any help? Options? Very VERY sad to lose the personal information. It was 2TB worth.

All 6 drives are 4TB each.
Never thought I could lose all drives at once...

Probably power supply took drives with it. I think you need repair/exchange drives pcbs to get data back.

Upload a detailed photo of the PCB. There will probably be a shorted 12V TVS diode. If so, then there may be a simple DIY repair.

I was reading about the PCB swapping. Looked a little complicated with the firmwares and stuff. I cant PM yet apparently. I'm in Toronto(Mississauga)

I'll get a torx set tomorrow and take the PCB's off to get pics.
I was reading soemthing about snipping the shorted node as well, but I read there would be a burnt smell on the drive which I dont smell but maybe can see when I get it off the drive.

Hello,

So I took all the pcb's off and took pics of each one. They all look the same essentially other than some color differences.

I labelled them 1-4 to signify the RAID5 array

A and B are mirrors of each other but were not RAID, just using a script I made to manually back it up daily. So A and B are the same as each other but not part of the RAID5 array.

A or B is what I reallly need to get the data from. It would be nice to be able to boot up the array at least once. I can move all the data to my new 16TB NAS that will arrive on Weds. But realistically A and B contain the items that cant ever be replaced.

Nothing looks damaged on the PCBs, but again I don't really know what I'm looking for. If you need closer or more focused pics of a specific area, please let me know!

Measure the resistances (on the 200 ohms range of your multimeter) of each of the components in the attachment.

Thanks a lot for your time so far btw.

So I'm not fully sure how to use the multimeter but I took a video of testing the points you highlighted in case I'm doing it wrong.

5v diode doesnt seem to return anything, the fuse? above it appears to
12v diode seems to return something, the fuse? above it seems to not

diode? returns the same as the 12v

??? doesnt appear to return anything but its pretty small... hard to be certain im hitting the points on it

Follow the instructions in my FAQ:

to test the points? or ..... which part(s)?

If I tested correctly than on point 9 I should remove the 5v diode and try booting it up again ?

Ask your local TV repair shop to help you test the components.

I talked to a few places on the phone.
They want $750 min to do this. $2000-3000 if they need to replace the PCB PER DRIVE.
Thats unthinkable. I don't have that kind of money to spare at all.

I tested the diodes again and the 5V definitely not giving off anything. the other one is.

I tried another drive and both 5v and 12v give off something but only in one direction it seems, does that make sense?

One of the two important drives spins up at first for about 20 seconds but doesnt show in the bios and the other doesnt spin at all.
I swapped the two PCB's to see if it still spun up with the other drives PCB and it does. Same behavior. Spins for 20 seconds then stops.
Both DO get power as they both get warm. The non spinning drive with the spinning drives pcb has same behavior as with its own... no spin just gets warm.
