Hi

I have an external Seagate Fast HDD Portable Drive 4TB that is no longer accessible from windows when I plug it in using USB cable.
The light is turning on and I can hear the disk is working, the Drive letter pops up but nothing happens when I open it,
it tries to open and then windows explorer freezes.

Model SRD00M1
Product number : 1JFAP1-500

My troubleshooting :
-Tried several other computers, same issue.
-Tried different USB 3.0 cable, same issue.
-Tried to access it from command line, same issue
-Tried SeaTools from Seagate, no go.

After some searching I think it is the bridge connector that can be faulty, I opened the disk and checked the bridge and it looked ok.
This Seagate contains 2 disks in Raid 0 (2TB each disk), do you think it is possible to replace the Bridge connector from another identical drive ?
Or is the raid level somehow only stored on this bridge only?

I have seen some examples of only replacing the bridge can fix the disk, but my contains a bridge with 2 SATA connectors so I have not found 1 of other brand with 2 SATA connector ports.

Hi, As the computer see's it and the driveletter is assigned the Bridge connector is not to blame.
I Think it's more likely bad sectors or a firmware problem.
As it is a Raid 0 set, you should not play with it "too much"...you can damage it beyond repair, or make it very difficult to retive your data.
You should leave it to a pro for your saftey. If data is not "that" important, you can proceed with DIY.

Regards/ Bosse
