This is a great way to brick the drive and make it unrecoverable. Seriously, read the GIANT RED TEXT THAT SAYS:

Quote:
DON'T DO IT ON NEWER DRIVES, LIKE 7200.12 OR YOU WILL END UP HAVING FURTHER COMPLICATIONS DUE TO NRG LIST / TRANSLATOR !!!!!

What tools do you have ? Do you have PC-3000, MRT Pro, SD Seagate doctor, HRT 5.0 / UDMA or SeDiv ?

Do you have at least some "chinese" firmware tools that you can use to backup sysfile/CPs on your drive ?

Can you post a FULL terminal log ?

Did you disable relocation and media scaning with Congen or PC-3000 editing sysfile 93 ?

Did you check if the drive have NRG-List entries with V40 ?

Of course this might as well be as simple as S.M.A.R.T. log pointers or other S.M.A.R.T. related damage....

Now you replaced heads and added up more problems ....

If drive were to be in it's original condition you could try to gain terminal access, backup SA and clear S.M.A.R.T.....

Why did you decide to swap heads or even open the drive on a 7200.12 stuck on BSY with led CD ? Wouldn't it be better to assume that most likely it would be firmware related problem and not heads ?

Are you using the donor ROM or something like that ? How did the donor firmware ended up on the patient drive ?
