Hello, I own a Samsung M3 1TB usb 3.0 drive
Yesterday was working, but today is not recognized anymore from the pc.
It spin and start clicking.
I've opened the cover extracted the drive, that is an ST1000LM025 and checked for dry solder and followed some other thread checking the voltages. Cannot find any problem.
To me looks very similar to viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28329&mobile=desktop
There is any operation I can do by my own? There is any software I can use to extract the data?
Thank you!

I've attached the terminal, connected @57600 bps and logged this data:

ActiveFW : 00
FWVer : 0001

Thank you very much for your warning.
I would of course send the unit to a specialized data recovery firm (I know a local repair shop with the right equipment cannot do that kind of repair).
What puzzles me is that the unit load correctly. For this reason i thought to a similar problem as described in viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28329&mobile=desktop
and would have give it a try if there is any command I can issue to the drive to try to backup the data.

Thank you for warning me from any non professional repair attempt.
Anyway there is any software try I can do?
The problem seems really similar to https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php ... le=desktop

Can I directly solder a sata connector to the pcb for furter try? The PC does not even recognize the usb device.

Thank you

Of course...
But if I well understood the previously linked thread, the bad head reporting is not real and I would need a software that can manage this case.

I think to have found the sata traces, and I would like to connect a sata connector to further investigate with SRT. Any help to find and download SRT?

Of course...
But if I've well understood the user on the previously linked thread reported that the fault head is a fake error and he managed to read the entire disk.
Can I try to do the same operation with SRT? If yes can you help me to find it and correctly operate?

Thanks

This + the clicking tells me that all heads are bad (4 heads)...

You can't do anything by your own now. Only option is to send the drive to a data recovery firm (and not a regular computer repair shop) to have the head stack replaced under HEPA 100 clean room and extract your data out of the drive ....

DO NOT OPEN THE LID OF THE DRIVE YOURSELF outside certifyed HEPA 100 aseptic room / laminar workbench.

Regards.

good piece of advice
soldering a sata connector will be not help am afraid.
if data is important send it to a decent DR company.

good luck
