Hi there,
I've done my best to comb through all of the various posts here, but have found no answers to the challenges I've experienced, and I'm hoping for help. I have a drive - a Toshiba MK3265 - on which my son changed the user HDD password to a value not known. It comes out of a Toshiba laptop. I would like to unlock this drive by removing its password.
I've followed the guides I've found here to run ZU but with no luck. I'm hoping for any other suggestions.
I created a FreeDOS USB drive with both MHDD and ZU. I set the SATA controller to ATA/IDE mode. Trying to run "ZU /P" and "ZU /S" just results in a message "ELAPSED:" with a timer that counts up. It appears to be waiting for the drive to come active. The Toshiba drive is the only SATA/IDE drive in the system.
MHDD can see the drive - when I hit shift-F3 you can see the drive attached to a "PCI controller", index 6. MHDD reports "high" security mode, user password set. I attempted to unlock using a master password of 32 spaces -- I get "FAIL", so it appears the master password isn't default. So obviously the drive can be seen, but I don't know why ZU won't work.
In case it was my specific bench system, I tried another PC I had lying around with the same results -- MHDD can see it, but ZU won't.
Any suggestions?
