I have got a old seagate 7200.12 (ST500DM002 - 1BC142 / JC4B) hard disk.
It was not having detection. In pc3000 it gave error SA defective.
So far I have only cleared SMP flags . I was able to clone last drive without errors using both heads.
As I am imaging middle drive I am experiencing sustained bad sectors on Head 1. It gives ProcessRWerror with sense code -43110081
Disk has some sectors in NRG list. I have not erased NRG / ALt List and recovered translator .
What should I do now , here are snaps of terminal data--

Hi pepe
Yes I have imaged entire E drive data of 40GB with both heads. Its only when I have started imaging D drive this errors have started.
I have not made hurry to delete NRG list yet.

I definitely thing this problem is not fw related, either H1 is weak or surface is damaged.
So i would avoid touching the translator in any means.
can you post a screenshot of DE map where H1 reads bad?
pepe

hi pepe
You are right , Issue could be heads.
Here is Head Resitance of Both Drives --
As advised by You I haven't fired any command ,though this might be related to NRG list. I cleared SMP flags and now Head 1 has started reading at a slower speed - 3Kb/sec to 1.5 mb/sec randomly.

Pepe
DO I need to take care of NRG list first.
".Open saved before NRG-list, right click on it and press once: Hide to slip list;" -- Is this will help.
You are right this might not only FW issue but Head 1is weak or Zones covered by Head 1 are bad.
How to get reed of "Marked as BBM" "BGMS Marked as BBM" & BGMS DOS REWRITE" Messages.

Pepe is great :D he has amazing skills and thorough mastery on seagate.
is diagnostics without physical checking has proven 100 % accurate. This case and few others which were semi physical initially have converted into physical one or more head failures, This disk has lost detection and SA is not accessible(disk is detected with 4GB capacity & with factory alias ST_MOQ.)

thx for the kind words. I am still learning ( = i'm alive).
So, have you tried replacing heads finally? Also, check the patient heads for having contamination, especially H1. I hope the surface didn't turned into dust during the previous torture...
