 Post subject: Recovery From Maxtor DiamondMax plus 9 80GB PATA

Hi there is this drive with no Detect at all, and I have no experience in Pata drives, any tip to get Detect ?
I have MRT Ultra.

I would imagine that MRT support for these ancient drives is virtually non-existent.

You’ve not mentioned any clicking or “deadness” so I’m assuming it’s spinning up normally but not detected, right?

If that’s the case then it’s most likely having some FW issues, and you’ll need something like PC3K. Or even the Salvation Maxtor tool was actually OK at these!

Yes jut not detect , so what option to use in PC3K, maybe I can use that in MRT,
and we have this options in MRT

MRT can detect the drive if is ok, but if you need to upload a LDR then it will not work.

Thnaks, yes after inserting jumper on master, now i get detect , but its strange now, i can read LBAs from "Disk scanning tools" but from "Data explorer" not, Maybe MRTs bug ?

If i remember well, on this type of drive MRT Data Explorer can access into disk sectors only if you are not inside fw utility.

Change reading via UDMA or PIO mode, don't use SATA.

it also works with mrt just load ldr one at a time

Thanks guys, The problem is way easier than I think, a guy in data-medics.com/forum/ Suggest to put jumper on drive and Insert in Master, and it detect easily.

I thought you knew that's why I didn't tell you before, since you wanted to upload ldr. To do this you need to put the disk in safe mode and then you can load ldr
