Access to the SA is normally via Vendor Specific Commands (VSCs) or via a serial terminal port. I think that 99.9% of DR shops just wait for Ace Lab to come up with a solution (aka hack).

Then again, maybe these faults are purely mechanical (headstack), in which case a firmware tool may not be necessary, assuming that head "adaptives" will not be problem. However, you would still need to find a DR shop that can handle He environments.

I struck out on Pomona 5250 soic 8 eeprom clip, it is too large for the rom chips. It will not clip on them either because it is too large or other components are getting in the way. These rom chips are smaller than say the rom chip on a 2060-800039-001 board. Do they make some smaller soic 8 eeprom clips? I guess I can do it the "hard" way and remove the chip to read them.

Hum, should I be able to run dd on this drive 8TB (WD80EFAX-68KNBN0) if the drive is security_locked=1? A standard wipe is running but I do not know much about dd. I do believe the drive has problems though, it is running at 9.19MB/s and says it will take 226 hours.
