Hi!
I'm slowly moving to datarecovery job.
It's not a real business but a nice income beside my full time job.
To this moment I did data recovery without opening the HDD and changing parts,
except electronic repairing etc.
But now I'm really curious how to change mechanical parts in a home environment.
I mean, what type of air cleaning stuff you use where you open the hdd?
I don't think it is a good idea to open a hdd just for replace the head unit for transfering the data
to another hdd in a average room.
Or?

Let's say I have a hdd with a bad mechanical arm, but the discs are ok.
I have to change that arm inside from a donor hdd just for transfering the data to a new hdd.
Is it worth to open in in my service room just in open air?

If you are working with your own drives, do whatever you want. If you are charging your client to recover their important data, it is best to send it out to a pro.
