Hi Guys, I have a problem with this WD10EZEX-22BN5A0 hdd. The hard drive is recognized correctly but is not accessible. I closed 02 applied patch for read errors and slow boot but nothing to do, I also manually loaded 02 and I can only read sector 0 if I try to read other sectors I get error. I have done head tests and they are ok, and I can read the whole SA and do full backup without errors. Do you have any suggestions ? Thank you

Does it report the correct capacity? Could it be a weird HPA problem?

Have you tried changing the heap map in ROM to select just one head and see if that head reads.
You will need to open DE task to test it fully.

I used the mrt test and it gives positive results, among other things if I try to read the entire firmware I can copy it completely without problems.

it reports the correct capacity or better known a small error but of only one byte I also manually set the right capacity but nothing has changed, I can only read sector 0

Check Module 31 and 47 firstly.
31 should not be empty
if 31 is empty then see if P list can be used to regen 31

Can you please report the status register state when you try to read data.

let us know :)

PS this is only when your LBA value / Capacity is rightly detecting

Case looks HIGHLY solvable....as indicated it can be HPA issue. However, needs evaulation.
Should not take more than 10 mins to crack it any way.

For a 1TB drive the LBA count should be 1953525167 from 0.

try to set it in EDIT HDD ID in ram and do a soft reset. or try to set the HPA itself.

It's not showing the right capacity. Likely HPA issue

Open 02 and reboot == real capcity wont call for HPA issue

also you are in kernel as of now....

the issue looks elsewhere to me after reading this :D

If it is a HPA issue, you can use HDAT2 or the following tool to restore full capacity:

https://www.datasynergy.co.uk/products/misc/atatool.aspx

BTW, your problem looks very similar to this one:

GigaByte BIOS bug results in loss of 1TB capacity:
