Hi,
the SATA connector on my 2010 Western Digital WD5000BMVW-11AMCS0 HDD has de-soldered from the controller board.
Before I try to re-solder it (not an easy task), could you please tell me if I can save the data through in 12 pin connector located to the left of the SATA connector. I have searched for the function and pinout of this connector on the internet but found nothing.
Could you please help me?
Thank you
Alberto

- this is drive with USB connection, not sata
- that 12pin header is not for data transfer. there is a serial port thru which it is possible to access the data using special tools, but you don't want to do this.

you have 3 options:
- contact a dr pro who can deal with this problem reliably
- repair the orig pcb by soldering the usb connector back (requires some skills, and expertise)
- get a donor pcb and move U12 over

If you never used any soldering equipment, i don't recommend to DIY.

Thank you very much Pepe for your reply.
I will try with your 2nd option.
