 Post subject: Ultrastar HUH721ALE600 PCB replaced but cant read sectors

hello i have this urgent case with broken pcb
iv changed the pcb. with a donor ...the HDD become ready but cant read any sectors!
do i also need to solder the ram IC on the hdd ? or the smooth IC? are the head adaptived in the ram IC?

yeah, i suppose you need to transfer adaptives at the least.
would it be hard to post a pic about the pcb?

Hello Sir iv soldered back the ROMS to the original pcb and soldered back to the donor
now both HDD get ready but cannot access the sector ! im shocked

Did you dump the ROMs, or did you just solder them? In any case, could you dump all 4 ROMs? I have written a tool that can parse the contents.

i just replaced the rom did not dumped! which tool do you use to dumb this type of ROM chip?

My software extracts all the firmware modules from a HGST ROM.

My tools run in a CMD window. They extract the components from your HGST ROM dumps. You need to dump the ROMs, then my tool will analyse your .BIN files.

Sir i could finally open your amazing tool with CMD .
i dragged the ROMs one by one on CMD and i the HEX editor opened automatically^^
should i save this two ROMs and write it on the CHIPs?

No, it doesn't. And in your situation, it is not ROM issue. Same problem you get if connect only PCB. User area access is different story. Do you hear long double recalibration of you hard drive or it became ready within a second?

The OP damaged a good donor drive by using its PCB on the patient without a ROM transfer. Doesn't this imply that something was written to the donor ROM by the patient drive? I assume that the donor is still spinning.

or the preamp is dead and killed both pcbs...

Sir i did the rom CHIP swap! both hdd are spinning! both hdd had data access before the swap

does swap the rom chip kill the preamp? both HDD are spinning and get ready without any weird sound
