Your new licensing model.

What's wrong? You can't create an activation USB stick? Or what?

You don't have to. Either you do something wrong or this is a bug. Please, describe how you activate R-Studio. Is your R-Studio Technician or what? You enter the key and what's happening?

Its the Technician version as detailed above.
We have been/were using it for 7 years before the issues.
Probably not the best place to discuss.
I will send another email to support.

Maybe this article will help: R-Studio Technician: activation using a USB stick.

We connected online and got a hardware code error each time we opened R-Studio and had to reneter the license code every time. We have 17 workstations and it was just unworkable.

One R-Studio Technician license includes one R-Studio Technician license and one R-Studio Agent/Agent Emergency license. The license is per user and the software can be installed and/or run on different machines provided that the Licensee does not use the software on more than a single computer at the same time.
To transfer the license to a new computer, you must complete the data recovery session on the previous machine. R-Studio software validates its license every time you launch it.
If you want to run R-Studio Technician on 17 workstations/servers simultaneously, you will need 17 R-Studio Technician licenses.
R-Studio Technician license terms HAVE NEVER CHANGED. Unfortunately, some customers have gotten used to breaking them, and we had to improve the license verification procedure. If your company falls into this category, you should now comply with the license terms or perhaps look for an alternative product to recover data for your customers.

We do not use 17 workstations simultaneously. We understand the 'rules'. But we do have it installed on all 17 as we never know which one will be used at any one time for convenience. Same as other data recovery pros I am sure. But when all instances are closed down and a new one is opened we get the error as described in the support ticket you have not bothred to answer, and avoided the question here. Perhaps if you offered the support of other software developers we wouldn't need to look for alternatives. And using a USB on all 17 workstations or swapping from machine to machine doesn't make sense. Stay in the real world.

Its also disappointiong how over the years we have helped out the development of R-Studio by reporting bugs and trying to improve the software. We didn't ask for anything in return, just doing it because we liked the software/company and tried to help you out.

That's not how you talk to customers.. And that's not how you sell software.

Can't believe you say this to a paying customer.

Louis Rossman has been dealing with another company that went a step further and went on disabling people licenses for violating license terms. I am not saying you're doing this, but attitude wise you're getting close.

Funnily enough I was just considering the R-Studio 80 version to see if it plays nice with my USB Stabilizer and then Tech. Now I'm not so sure.

Let me just finish by telling you, that without customers buying your software, you're nothing, while your customers have plenty to chose from.

Its amazing. We promote R-Studio on the Data Recovery Professionals website for other data reocvery companies to see, and recommend them all over the place including Reddit and other forums. We have one issue with the software which could easily have been handled in support and this is how they react. I suggested this was not the right forum to discuss it, but they continue to post. Mind boggling.

I don't mind a message to say that another instance is in use when I accidentally open a second instance and then hold there until I close the first or chose to close the second. But, it is annoying that it causes me to have to re-enter the license key after I close out the first instance and reopen the second.

Did you start both instances on different computers or on the same computer?
I double checked running two instances on different computers, and it worked as designed. A message appears that another instance is running and it's necessary to close the first one to activate the second one. No key entering is necessary to run the second R-Studio when the first one is closed.
As to running two instances on the same computer, why do you need this? R-Studio Technician can perform several task simultaneously.
Or don't I understand something?

This is also the issue I reported and is yet to be responded to. Your software flags up some kind of a 'hardware issue' with a 4 digit code (from what i remember) with a link to report the issue via a form on your website which is what I did.

Today, I paid to update my license for another year and everyone one of my systems powered on with a license error before I entered in the new license key. In theory, shouldn't the old license key keep working until I want to update the software to a newer version?

Would you like our sales team's response to be posted on this forum or would you prefer to contact them directly at sales (at) r-tt.com?

Did you get the support form I filled in. You have not responded to that yet?
