I don't understand why your Schottky rectifier failed. They are normally rated at 1A 40V. Perhaps yours was a 20V part.
BTW I transferred TVS but the schottky is too big, simply didn't fit to pads and touches neighbour components. The drive will only be plugged to SATA power only from now on but I wonder do I still need to replace the schottky to complete the protection rail?
I didn't even test yet if the TVS alone would work without schottky
