Looks like someone changed the chip....
Story is, DVR hdd from computer repair shop, owner believes employee has been steeling some hardware and camera stopped recording.
After you spotted the nvidia chip, I figured out it was from a rtx 3060 mobile, owner said they repair laptops with that card a lot.
The guy did an impressive bizarre job trying erase evidence.
What a story!

Tell your client to look for a faulty NVIDIA card.

I´ve already thought of that, but it´s been months since the incident and they repair dozens of that laptop, it´s gone.

Thanks, i will take a look.
Funny thing is, i believe WD10PURZ is TrailXLB family, but donor (same model, different PCB) is detected as TresXLB2....
I can´t get rom modules nor SA to read with donor bios.

One try, downloaded firmware from here, same model number.
https://firmware.datacarelabs.com/get/w ... downloads/
Loaded this firmware by file but cant reconstruct rom with it.

From the article you mentioned.
I tried to upload loaders from the firmware i linked and downloaded.
Following the order, 1B, 10, 11.
1B and 10 were loaded fine.

Load LDR(0x11) fail
"Send Sata (0x11):.......: Err (Send Data Fail)
Load LDR:....................: Err

load 01....
load 01 to HDD RAM...
The data source:......................: HDD
Get 01 module Data:................: failed

Maybe i need to find other SA resources, don´t know

PCB 2060-800006-001 and 2060-800039-001 does not seem to be compatible to me, according to my notes they use different controllers.
edit:
maybe this comment is not relevant anymore as now i see you found out the initial issue with the patient rom...

Yes, thank you pepe.
Goal is to reconstruct Rom.
I´m trying to use the original PCB 2060-800006-001 with donnor Rom, do you think that´s possible?
I will try some different firmware loaders, found some at hddsurgery:
https://firmware.hddsurgery.com/index.p ... y=TrailXLB
Those WD10PURZ-85U8XY0.

* A tip for MRT newby, should i enter utility in Kernel mode to load the loaders or it doesn´t matter?
Thanks a lot.

@grevan, obviously you should use a donor ROM from the same PCB. I didn't notice that your PCB part numbers were different. That just complicates things even more.

Anybody knows if donor PCB 2060-800006-001 needs to have same MCU? Mine is TT6761.

The family is TRAILXLB. It seems to me that you just need to find resources that match.

https://support-en.wd.com/app/warrantystatusweb

Code:
WCC4J0RT10YD
WD10PURZ-85U8XY0
TRAILXLB
5400
64M
SATA3 6GB/S
1.0 TB
2HD
SURVEILLANCE

Can't you approach MRT Lab's tech support for help?

Yes, I know it's TrailXLB.
I found many donor pcbs but none with same MCU, don't know if that's matters. Maybe i'll try one.

Hi,
For this drive, module 5C (Servo overlay) must also be loaded into memory.
Remember to load module 11 into memory last.

Thanks.
I tried to upload loaders from a resource i found.
Following the order, 1B, 10, 11.
1B and 10 were loaded fine, 11 failed.

Load LDR(0x11) fail
""Send Sata (0x11):.......: Err (Send Data Fail)
Load LDR:....................: Err"

I will add 5C next time.

Found some resources at Hddsurgery but i couldn´t registered yet, i have just one business email and it was not accepted..... sent an e-mail to them but no return.
Can anybody download them for me?
Here is the link:
https://firmware.hddsurgery.com/index.p ... y=TrailXLB
There are 5 (five) 85U8XY0 i could try.
Thank you.

Would it make sense to try this?
