Hello,
my customer has initialized this drive with MacOS in ExFAT and he tells that before was ExFAT (I hope it's so and not APFS).

I've recovered some NTFS file system with this procedure https://blog.acelab.eu.com/western-digi ... ution.html, do you know if it works with ExFAT, too? if not, can I try a RAW recovery?

Thanks a lot
Donato

That ACE Lab SMR recovery procedure is designed for NTFS only, it cannot recover macOS initialized ExFAT.
You may try RAW recovery, but it will lose filenames and directory tree, only recover files by signatures.
Since it is WD SMR drive, minimize power cycles to protect the translator.

Thank you. The customer waives the recovery of files. Too bad it would have been a good test.
