Need some info on how to get maxtor into safe mode w/ free tools.
this is just for my curiosity not for profit. I cannot afford to buy pc3000 or
hrt to play with.

modell type?

The safe mode is not help for you, because the firmware upgrade is different problem.

Nothing wrong with firmware. Im just curious about safe mode and
couldn't find info's on getting into safe mode w/ free tools.

is a maxtor fireball 3.

Again I DO NOT NEED HELP to flash anything, if i needed to flash
something I would figure it out. I'm just curious about this safe mode.

How to put DimondMax Plus 8 N40P Code:NAR61590 SN:E142YVYE into Safe mode. Please can't find any documentation regarding this

On a N40P the jumper need to be placed across the bottom 2 pins nearest the IDE connector (must lay across the bottom pins laying horizantilly)

This will put drives with a DSP chip into safe mode, such as the Athena Drives (2B020H1 etc) the ARES and N40P family have Poker based chips.
