I have a Western Digital Caviar 15 GB HDD (153AA)
First I ran HDD Regenerator 1.5, and most of the first sectors were bad. But I was on a rush... and it was too slow... so I canceled it. It seemed to have too many bad sectors. Or maybe all of the first ones.

So... I put it as a slave disk on windows: it had two partitions, 4GB each.
First, I formatted them on windows (don´t ask me why).
Afterwards, I ran scandisk on them, but it hung up.

Then... spin rite (i was going nowhere)
Mr. Spine Rite told me that there were:
-a gap
-a strange NTFS or OS/2 partition that, on Spine Rite's opinion was probably a gap hidden under the bios will
-and two FAT32 partitions with incorrect size

Just a boy on a hurry

Then i ran MHDD, and used the command NHPA to 'cut'.
It asked me if a wanted to set LBA native address, tried to find out what that meant... but i was still on a hurry and so i pressed 'ok'.
I understood something like if 'cut' meant erasing every partition.

Added afterwards...
Nevermind, it started making 'click' noises... like a clock.
It means that there's no way out, right?
(there was no valuable info on it)

If you have a clicking drive, and no valuable data is on the drive, you are best of butting the drive in the trash. That is if you don't have sofisticated data recovery solutions. Spin Rite is not going to be able to fix this problem and MHDD is not going to be able to fix this problem.

hi
It clicked until I typed de command stop in spin rate, then it has never clicked again, but I haven´t used it much afterwards, it has been turned on like 30 minutes

I have Hiren's boot cd (just got it like 5 days ago):

-Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools
-Western Digital Diagnostics (DLGDIAG) 5.04f
-Gateway GwScan 3.15
-ExcelStor's ESTest 3.80
-MHDD 4.6
-WDClear 1.30
-HDD Regenerator 1.51
-Ontrack Disk Manager 9.57
-Norton Disk Doctor 2002
-Norton Disk Editor 2002
-Active Kill Disk 3.1
-HDAT2 4.5.2
-SmartUDM 2.00
-Hard Disk Drive S.M.A.R.T. Viewer.
-Victoria 3.33

-Test Hard Disk Drive 1.0
-Test Cpu/Video/Disk 5.6
-etc

The info on this HDD is not 'completely' necessary
But... is there something I can do?
And is the drive likely to be saved?

Thanks a lot!

P.D.: In MHDD i ran UNCUT, no CUT.

Yes, it can be repaired, but you must be willing to spend Thousand's of dollars for a Software/Hardware complex solution. At least here in USA you are looking at about $8000.00 ,not sure how it will be in Uruguay.
I don't know of any free tools which could assist you in this, sorry!
