 Post subject: Seagate ST3120022A Problem.

Hi All!

A little advice please?

Got an ST3120022A that spins up and sounds like it calibrates, but the ATA register shows no ready signal, just BSY and DSC.

Generate safe mode signal and terminal shows F> prompt.

Reset drive OK.

Issue "j" command and get:

3.06 08-21-03 17:50
(P)PATA Reset


.....and that is it. Locks up.

Tried Salvation Data demo software to see if it could see the drive, it cannot. Just get "Err" message. I know it is connected up OK via the serial port, because a good drive IS picked up by the Salvation.

Do we think PCB problem, that's what I think, but would appreciate any input very much.
