 Post subject: Seagate ST3200822A Problem

To all respected Guru's

I have received 200 GB Seagate hard disk. Which was having motor jam problem with head stucked on media
Seagate ST3200822A 3.01 IDE

Although I have replace the media to another doner successfully 2 data Plates without misalignment them.

And replaced the head (original as doner is not available) now the disk spins ok but it remains BSY and DSC signal after 15-20 sec it gives error


Here is the terminal Log when power up

Sounds like either the heads are duff, or the platter swap didn't quite go to plan.

Anyway, how do you know you've successfully transplanted the platters without misaligning them? The drive still doesn't work!

there is no chance of media misalignment. Its a 100% sure and success technique which i have made.

It could be head. Because when I opened the Disk when it came. head was stuck and client told me that drive felled when he was transferring data. This made bearing Jam. And can see a very tiny small dot marking on the top media head3. But lowest media is fine.

Secondly when i power up the disk i can see head comes till center only instead of going till the outer of media.

Any suggestion regarding the terminal report
