 Post subject: Seagate ST340015A 3.01 problem

Hello to all

I have a Seagate hard disk ST3410015A 3.01 When plugged give this report in terminal. And after 2-3 min it detects itself as STXXXXXXX Firmware 1.1.01 Serial 3xxxxxxx and capacity and every time terminal report is diffrent. I tried Hot Swap but no success. is it head problem.

Hey buddy

This is the most common problem with those f***ing slim drives. And it is cause of the bad head. No any f/w level tool or software can help you in this case, as you need the data. so, in this case, you can try these two things one after one:

1. The tapping method (Really, It does revives those slim drives often....)

2. Head Swap (Though, it should be your last try, as there is high risk that you would screw up the drive's remaining stability !)

switching heads in these drives is really hard is there head assembly is different from common seagate drives , so be careful .

darkforce1 did you fine solution to your st340015a drive im asking because
mine has problem of firmware corruption
