I got one SCSI Drive 146 GB with this Model IC35L146UCDY10

I found that this drive have 524 byte in One Sector. and can not be read in standard PC. Can be detected as well but When try to read it send I/O Device Error. I give it a test with My PC3K SCSI in Universal Utility. and there is nothing problem. reading test and Surface shecking is not problem too. I try to view Sector and Found there is 524 byte in one sector. it is not as usual drive that just have 512 byte in one Sector.

This is Some detail of this drive manual I found on NET

Storage capacities of 146.8 GB, 73.4 GB, 36.7 GB, and 18.3 GBUltra
320 and Ultra 160
Interleave factor 1:1
Variable Sector Size (512-528 bytes/sector)
Tagged Command Queuing
supportAutomatic read/write data transfer
8 MB segmented sector buffer (from 1 through 256)
4.7 ms seek time in read operation
Adaptive read ahead algorithm
Write Cache
Back to back write
ECC on the fly
Automatic defect reallocation
Self diagnostics at power on
Closed loop actuator servo
High level of integration of the electronics

As you can See in Manual it say Variable Sector Size (512-528 bytes/sector). HMM mean it may have more than 512 byte in One Sector..
IS there anybody ever got such this drive or not ??? and How to perform a Data recovery for this Drive...

Please give some information that can help

thanks
Aping

You have to use a software that can handle such sector size...

If you change the sector size to 512 then the hard drive will stop functioning normally (a SCSI hdd requires to be formatted after a sector size change)

I am not aware of any software that can work with these sector sizes that is available (I'm using my own software). But I've heard there are ways to deal with this under linux (try to man dd for example)
