hi,
just been reading and having a look at the salvation data platter exchange tool and wondering if anyone has purchaed one and their thoughts on this tool.
this may be a stupid question but assuming i have amultiplatter drive for repairs and the heads are faulty and i source an identical drive, could i just use the platter excahnge tool to swap the platters from the faulty drive to the new donor drive ? or am i better replacing the heads?

thx

Yes, I've bought one.

It's OK, seems to work.

It's nearly always better to swap heads on multi-platter drives, especially as you got to move the heads off before you change platters anyway!

I have the tool too. It works great. I use it whenever I have to do head swaps on drives with a parking ramp and multiple platters.
