Hello Hddguru´s and friend now its me asking for this

This week i get for DR a Linux Server based on Server Dell Power Edge 2850, its like this
http://www.onlinesell.ro/images/DELL_PowerEdge_2850.jpg

i tried to start up and turn on the 2 fan´s , without signal of problem but not show nothing from the signal od video, leds on SCSI HDD´S Maxtor Atlas Stay online and the LCD from the panel of server too.

So i tried to open it and check , what´s happend , i notice that its RAID Hardware, well on the most cases on Dell i had checked use Hardware RAID Controller, but this model use a special adapter on the motherboard called RAID key its like a Serial ROM , wich pluggin on the motherboard using a special socket

So on thery, its no possible to get disk´s away fron the server and connect on anotehr pc

Thanks, and Best Regards<

Sinceraly

I would remove one drive , and connect to a scsi controller
and see if you can read the drive .. if so , then just image all the
drives .. then do the DR from the images .

As long as you can read the drives , you should be able to recover
the data..

Hi why don't you try a post code reader to see if you can get a code from the motherboard to find out why it won't post.

Beto that Kind of Hard disk can be reading in any Adaptecc contrloler just Dont Inizialise the disk, Copy the Hard drive in any other whit youre data Ecxtractor, 1,2, or 3 hard drives then when all the copy are finish you can use a R-studio or UFS EXplorer to extract all the data, but if you dont know waht is the RAID SYSTEM you can use Raid Reconstructor Software to see what is the parity. to extract the data whit Rstudio or UFS explorer

Hello i was checking about this RAID Key plugged and its Hardware controller, what does it means, this Server the RAID its builded and controlled by hardware controller, so on theory if i get the disk´s i cant acces the RAID 0

Shortcircuits,.. i had try to put a POST on ther motherboard but the server doesnt turn on when i plugged on PCI slot

Even if it is a hardware raid , you can still recover with software

Image all the drives , then destripe using R-studio or Runtime's
Raid reconstructor
Then recover data from resulting image

That Kind of servers use thir oun controler, if you psot a new controler the server its gona be freeze, because you must acces to the bios and disable the hardware Dell contrler, if you want to recover the drives, colne it whit a normal PC whit SCSI Controler Adaptec. unless you have a new one Dell contrller and config in the Bios.

Hello, the RAID key only serves to unlock the on-board PERc 3/di RAID controller. Image the drives and RAID Reconstrutor will be able to tell you the parameters needed to rebuild in R-Studio. cheers.

Check your PSU outputs then and try pull the signal line(power good) up to see if it's PSU or M/Board related. It sounds easier to get a replacement part for the server than bypass a specialized raid controller. If it's a 24 pin try a newer power supply even if you need to swap some pins and see if it is just the power supply.
