hi sempre, you mean is it possible to get the data back from this platter conditions? the answer is if the SA located on the edge then very unlikely to get the data back.

This platter hdd is of one seagate ST380011A FIRMWARE 3.06.

O SA of this hdd if locates in the edge where is damaged?

i think SA on the edge but not sure, even though it isn't on the edge, once the good new head scans the surface on the damaged platter the head becomes unusable again.

until now im know the SA its on the middle of the platters, but i don know if this theory its correct but u should be consider the Servo Mark´s need it to recalibrate, and reach DRDY DSC

Location of SA is different between the models.
- all WDs, thin Maxtors, old IBMs have it on the outer edge.
- thick Maxtors - on the inner edge
- newer Hitachi, Seagates have it in the middle.

possible swap heads - start disk via terminal with recalibrate disabled ...... read blocks

But ...most times the particles are now embedded inside the platters and the media is fekcud :O)

it is still possible. ALL seagate Barracuda have their SA in the middle of platter but the location is not same for ALL model since their CHS address for SA is not same for ALL model. For your case, you must be careful for media corruption. first try to change head and see what happen. if it can be detected as well then you must to copy it data as soon as possible and do not turn OFF before you have got ALL the data. try to get from LBA 0 to the last. for 72.7 LBA 0 start from the inner side to outer side.

I can say you what will happen. Heads will die for less than 1 minute. But it is possible to prevent heads killing on Seagate drives with such media damage, don't ask how - think and answer will come

LBAs start from outer diameter and go to inner diameter
