Can anyone point me to a logic board with will work with this drive?

Western Digital WD1000BB-32CCB0, Logic Board Barcode=0000001092-100CD7

I can find boards with matching the 0000001092-??????, should this board work for me?

You can look for a board with the same Pcb number: ex, 2060-001092-007
When you found it you either need to swap the ROM chip from your old board, or reprogram it.
Do you have Pc3000?

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to. Does the attached image help (the top of the HDD, top of the circuit board, & bottom of circuit board)?

It's the U2 chip in the bottom right hand corner.

I assume the first number (Pcb) on my drive is the 0000 001092-100 (is this right?) but what is the PC3000 number? Also, just to be clear, if I can find a board with 0000 001092-100 and replace the U2 chip then I have a good chance of getting the drive up and running to recover data?

Your board number is: 2060-001092-006....as seen on the backside of the Pcb.
Match that and swap ROM-chip, or reprogram it and then it's done.

You can also match the CPU number like wd70c23-gp 00-00 ST 2.0 for the finding donor pcb .

Hi,
You can use almost any board from the BB-series....80Gb, 100Gb, 120Gb, as long as the backside of the pcb looks like your's.
After you bought the board you have to swap (change) the ROM-Chip (inside the red ring..see picture), after that you're good to go.

Your PCB has the ROM chip in a different place to the above (this is a "Silver I" type PCB)

It's the larger chip, top left, position U2.

Somewhat more difficult to physically transfer.

However, being an older WD drive, just get a PCB of same P/N (e.g. 2060-001092-006) and same model HDD (E.g. WD1000BB-xxCCB0) and u should be OK.

This has burnt the motor controller U1 chip. I need a donor board, if you have one or know where to get one (apart of Ebay) pls pm me I will buy, urgent urgent

Burnt chip is labeled as L6278 1.2


A guy before me put his hands on the drive and try to swap the card but when they called me both drives (new and damaged) were damaged. No spin.

So I need to start over and get a new donor board....

Probably you also need to fix the problem that causes the combo to burn...?

If the preamp (inside the drive) is faulty, it will destroy the new board aswell....as in your case.
So you need to change the headstack with the preamp to a new one, and get a new Pcb aswell.

@Shaun.
Often the motor-chip is gone for no reason...other than it's underdimentioned. And it can be solved by replacing the Pcb.

@bosse: as I understood the postings, the new PCB just went dead in the moment it was first powered up on the old HDA. This is why I thought about a defective motor or stuck spindle (although the current limiting scheme of the drivers should be able to cope with that...)
But for most designs, a short to the HDA body for whatever reason would mean immediate death for the driver, as current sensing is done in the ground legs of the half bridges usually.
