Samsung SP1654N help needed

Dear All,

I've got an SP1654N, which does not do anything at all when plugged in. I've looked very closely, but can't see any damage to its board or the components on it.
I actually have another one (working) of the same drive, SP1654N, rev A, everything looks the same, every text on the board is the same also. When I replace the board, it spins up, recalibrates, beeps a short one, then recalibrates again, beeps, and does this forever.

Do you have an idea about either:
-how could I make the HDD work with the original board?
-what do I need to do in order to make it work with the replacement board (after reading older posts here, my idea is that I need swapping ROMs, but I'm not sure)
-how can I connect to the terminal to read diagnostic info? Can you post a link for the schematics and let me know where are the RX, TX and ground pins on the HDD?What are the port settings? (Or is this a thing for which I need PC3000?)

Maybe I could start comparing the voltages and signals on the bad board to those on the good board to spot the faulty component, but I hope somebody knows the answer to my question already
I can post a hi-res photo of the hdd, board, etc if it helps.

Any info is highly appreciated.

Yes, swap the ROM to make the replacement PCB compatible with the patient.

This is assuming the fault is with the PCB.

Mind you, it's not so easy to swap ROM in Samsung as it is WD or others
