Considering the date of the first post was almost 5 YEARS ago, it seems likely your pleas will fall on deaf ears...

I'm also busy developing H.Ex - as a successor to P.Ex

My head extractor will consist of a SINGLE tool that will work with any 3.5" drive - regardless of whether it has one platter or five, regardless of the thickness of the platters, and regardless of manufacturer.

I'm first having to deal with my System P.Ex Mk II and once that is well into production, expected to be May 2008, work on the H.Ex (head extractor) will commence. Its plans are well advanced, and ready to be passed on to my engineers shortly.

Each tool is expected to cost in the region of £400. However, like the System P.Ex it will be precision-manufactured IN THE UK by UK precision engineers. As with P.Ex it will NOT be outsourced to be manufactured cheaply.

This H.Ex will do an awful lot more than simply remove and replace headstacks - but those details are under wraps.

I've got to say, it sounds a bit incredible. Lack of pictures makes me a little suspicious. A SINGLE machine that can handle ALL 3.5 drives is either going to be very simple (Little more than a drive holder, and some drinking straws. Salvation?), VERY complicated, to the point it takes too long to adjust and use, or VERY expensive, like a surgical robot doing the work.

Believe me, it will work. It's not at all simple - it's a delicate, precision, complex tool. No drinking straws!

Very expensive? Probably. About £400 each is the current estimate excluding shipping.

No pictures, no info until certain intellectual property has been protected - ditto with the System P.Ex.

We are considering this - but only on half power. 2.5" drives are so easy to extract headstacks that it probably is not going to be worth developing a tool.

But watch this space; there were initially no plans whatsoever for the System P.Ex to handle 2.5" drive platters - but that is now looking a distinct possibility.

There are already similar and effective tools available for this purpose. I used to be very eager to see HETS, but now I have other methods and other tools for the job.
