Hello,
I have a maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9, 160gb.
This harddrive does not except any incomming electricity, when i plug it into my external cabinette the power lamp on the cabinette just flickers and nothing happens. I have also tried another cabinette with the same result.
What can i do? Should i replace the circuit on the back of the harddrive? If so, where can you buy one?

Tech. data:

YAR41BW0
ARDENTC8-C1 040111300 L7250E 1.2

Find PCB from another Diamond Max 9 drive with ARDENT C8-C1 chip.
Should work.

If the data is important to you, send it to a professional. If you don't care if you permanently lose all your data, the PCB is short for Printed Circuit Board. It's the board that you can see on the outside of the drive (DO NOT open the drive). A few torx screws, and you can remove it.

Again, data recovery is a delicate business, and it's EASY for someone to turn an easy job into a difficult or impossible job. If it's worth it, please contact a professional. Otherwise, enjoy.

There's a thing called Ebay. I've heard they sell all kinds of things. Just be sure you get a board that's compatible with yours. And no, I can't do everything for you. It's obvous you're starting from zero. There is nothing I can say that will give you all the info you'll need. Your chances are slim anyway. Don't expect someone to hold your hand and teach you an entire business, just so you can say "Aw, this is too hard, I'll just throw it away".
