Hi people, I have been using my disk for quite a long time but the other day I heard the drive making some noise and had to restart the system again. But when I did that the disk would not boot and I fear that the data might be deleted or lost. So, if you people have any know about the ways to get this done right or if you can at least suggest me the ways to handle this …it will be a great help.

Seriously, if the data is very important to you, you need to send it to a professional. That's the right way to do it.

A freezer will draw moisture from the air and crystalize on the circuit board. After you take it out of the freezer this moisture will thaw out and short out the electronics. Use at your own risk.

This seems to be a genuine problem. It must be probably due to the “noise” you have stated….there may be some bad sectors in the boot sector or may be the OS has been corrupted. These are all just views but you can’t be sure…..you must try to recover data disk (link to diskemergency.com removed by moderator) and make it as simple as possible to avoid complications. There are many ways to get that done and I hope that you get your data back from suitable ways.

While simpler is often more reliable, Data Recovery is usually nowhere near simple. Taking the wrong actions can make an easy job difficult, or impossible. Try smart over simple. Know when you are in over your head. If it's important, send it to a pro.

It is best to have some humour in our job, although a beginner will not always know when we are not serious.
Tell them to open up the drive and use a vacuumcleaner to remove the dust and some will do it for sure.

Did you try some free software like HDDSCAN to diagnose it? It seems your disk has a head crash.

if the hdd is still detected, try to image the hdd to a new hdd sector by sector. If ususual sound occurs, stop the hdd using immediately and send it to professional. otherwise data will loss more, might be unrecoverable if platter causes scratch.
