I don't think the metal inserts are part of the product design. I think and hope ( i disposed of them ) they are only for shipping purposes. If you take your time, unscrew slowly and pick out the screws with tweezers, you should not have screws on the platters.

The major problem is getting the heads back on the platters without damaging them. Or getting the donor heads off the platters without them touching. Anyone care to share a video? I thought not.

That's the area that Salvation falls flat. I simply think of it as a platter exchange mechanism, with a nice magnet removal and replacement tool, and a nice drive stand. Their solution for the heads are simply little v-shaped pieces made from plastic sheet. I was never able to get them to work well.

The metal inserts ARE part of the design.

If you notice (well you won't now you've thrown them away!!) there is a hole in the centre on these inserts just a little smaller that the spindle ring. It's this that keeps the insert off the platters and keeps the screws from falling onto the platters!

I second that, the metal inserts hold the screws and are part of the design. Works perfectly for drives without platter seperators. The magnet tool is extremelly useful.

HDRC do not offer a hard drive head alignment tool at the moment as the product has some design flaws. When it is perfected it will be back on sale.

I see you are discussing the platter exchanger however this topic is listed under the Title : hard drive head alignment tool. The head alignment tool designed & tested by us is not ready for sale; it may still be undergoing redevelopment for some time. Most of our other tools are available. We have also addressed the Desktop/Desktop prices; this was an error and has been corrected. It should have read Desktop / Laptop. The difference is in measurements as the laptop drives are much smaller than desktop models. The cost is then reflected in our manufacturing, CNC programming, design and development.

Hello to all

I am posting here to just to clear all the myth regarding HDRC.

1 I know the owner personally and he is not Cheat or Fraud. he is very polite person.
2 I have visited There office and Lab when i was in Delhi. Its not a small office. Its really a big office with many computer and hard disk stocks. And there office is located in the IT area of Delhi (Nehru Place) That area is the India's Largest supplier for computer Hardware. Average rent of the office is Rs 95,000/- (1400 Euro or $2183. so you can easily assuem the present office Value.
3 I have also seen there Platter remoal tool. and I really liked that tool.

Altough i have never used any of there hardware tools because i have my custom made. But i have seen the demo of that product. At my visit time Gaurav also gave the demo of head removal tool which was under development at that time.

Perhaps it is unfair, comparing a product I have in my hand with one that does not exist. Usually one does not advertise something until it is available. I would love to compare the two side by side, but that doesn't seem possible. What I was comparing was what little information I had, which was a crude picture. Going by the picture, Salvation is much better. It is an effective, real, usable tool. If your product looked anything like the picture, it was not going to be effective. It looked like it used a plexiglas frame with three long fingers, which would bend under use. It covers the drive completely, which is useful if you have no cleanroom, but use a bedroom instead. Also, the plexiglas cover keeps the three prongs from rotating, which means it might not be compatible with all, or future spacers. It LOOKS like a hastily-developed idea, without even a prototype built to understand it's flaws.

If you don't like me comparing a real product with your idea in development, you shouldn't put up for sale an idea in development. In my part of the world, we call that Vaporware. It doesn't give me a good impression of your company.
