So i retired the scan and it ran all night. I can't remember the exact numbers but basically there were mostly sector reporting back at < 3, 10 , 50 ms. There was 1 at <150 ms and then when it got to somewhere around 16,000,000 is started giving me ?time results which got to 77 before I shut it down this morning.
So I'm guessing these are the bad areas on the disc, what do I do now? So I tell it to start scanning at some number say 17,000,000 to the end and see if the rest of the disc is good. I'm assuming that the fact that it reports back anything at all tells me that the head is moving ok.
Thanks for any help you can give. Again I don't mean to anger anyone of the professionals or suggest that they are not worth their fee. If this disc held important data that was irreplaceable I would pay up and be thankful. But this is more of a learning challenge to help me understand computers better since they are my hobby and I enjoy learning. So thanks for any help and please don't be offended. DPT
