Hi everybody!

I have a Seagate model ST3500841A 7200.9 Barracuda and 500 GB of space. My pcb is broken because there is no boot noise when I plug it. I have found a disk with the same model, space, etc but I must go to the store te see if pcb firmware is the same.

My firmware is 3.AAD. What happends if I change pcb of same model but with differents firmwares to restore data?

Thanks in advance

It won't work.

Even with same fw version, it quite possibly won't work either.

If the data is important, Yes. That's by far the safest route. If it's not important, give it a try. You won't have much to lose.

Any decent DR company should be able to do this at a reasonable price and not rip you off.

We're in UK and work on a difficulty of job basis, not how valuable the data is. ;-)

Are you 100% sure the drive is dead? (i.e. not even a slight tick or faint buzz when you apply power?)

Cheers

Sean

I'm in Spain. There is no sound when I apply power. And data it's important for me. There are some photographic works here.

Well, if you're prepared to ship to UK, I can take a look for you.
