Send me one and I'll tell you :)

I also have thoughts of putting something in between the serial transmitter and the drive to listen to what the fix is.

Good idea .

If you want to capture the serial terminal, you need 2 another serial port, and one capture program. (google a little)
;)

(+ cable)

So has anybody using the required SD or Ace update logged the said packet?

your best bet is the Salvation version as 7200.11 is encrypted on Pc3000   :horse: ;o) Thats why it took them longer than Salvage date

I don't have a 7200.11 with the problem currently.

I don't see why it wouldn't be as easy as hooking the Tx on the HD Doctor up to the Rx and then seeing what shows up in the terminal window.

not so simple because the software would expect a reply from the HDD like a T prompt etc.. But a good idea anyway

reasonably programmed software would, yes, but that's an assumption you're making there.

Salvation's product has some misunderstanding in interface, but I can confirm that the solution works fine for Fw:SD15 case...

I seem to have this same issue starting yesterday.

Drive worked fine since it was new in February 2008. Yesterday it started to blue screen spontaneously. When it rebooted, the drive was not found in the bios and my machine could not find a system volume. Turning the machine off and turning it back on would cause it to recognize the drive and start properly. This happened four or five times. Eventually, it would not recognize the drive in the bios. I installed the drive in two other machines and it still did not recognized the drive in the bios. The drive does seem to spin up, and I have never heard any strange noises from the drive. Sounds like the SD15 firmware corruption issues that I have read about on this forum, at newegg.com, and on seagate.com. It appears that Salvation Data and Ace lab offer a somewhat easy to affect fix.

It sounds like the fix is not too difficult if someone has the proper tools and knowledge. Is there anyone out there that can recover my important data for me at a somewhat resonable cost? I realize that posession of the proper tools and knowledge is not common, and am willing to pay a fair price for it. I am located in Seattle (Bellevue, 7 miles from Microsoft in Redmond), Washington, USA. I would prefer someone local if they are out there.

Drive specs:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500 Gbytes
ST3500320AS
S/N: 5QM0LPSK
P/N: 9BX154-303
Firmware: SD15
Date Code: 08302
Site Code: WUXISG

Please PM me if you can help. Thanks!

I noticed that all what ACE Lab does is followed by Salvation. Even their site  After Salvation launched it, it seemed to me I see it for the second time

At ACE Lab:
We develop and manufacture specialized hardware and software for:
HDD repair
data recovery from damaged HDD
quick and easy data recovery
data recovery from flash drives
copying data from HDD

At Salvation:
We develop and manufacture specialized hardware-software complex for: HD manufacturer-level diagnostics
HD restoration/ refurbishing
Broad sense disk data recovery
Data recovery from flash drives
Extracting data from HD

Their site appeared in maybe one year after ACE Lab  What can we say about products then???

There is a lot of plaguarism about, there are many sites that copy the exact text from our website. Some copy just the odd sentance or paragraph, but we have seen one case where they have copied complete pages complete with spelling mistake :hmmm:
