I have WD4000AAKS with few clicks and then spin down. Could this be HDA related issue? or PCB? The WD4000AAKS ROM is embedded into the Micro, so there is no chance to remove and swap it to good pcb.

Any help much appreciated.

It could be either a heads problem or a PCB problem. You need pro gear to fix it.

Can you post a scan of the PCB? Your description sounds pretty typical of PCB failure or also heads problem.

Alright.

Do you have another of these PCBs to try? You can still save the ROM off using the usual tools even though there is not a discrete EEPROM.

if your other PCB is from a working drive be sure to save the ROM from it too before you overwrite anything
