Thanks DF for posting the vid- && thanks for helping out those of us who are frustrated with non-functional hard drives and just need a little help.
Wish I had read this thread earlier, I have this particular faulty hd and I just went out and bought the upgraded 1T drive (ST31000340AS).
Seagate shouldn't be allowed to profit by manufacturing inferior hard drives and then offering data recovery services to those customers who put our trust/money into their products.
I am just a small customer but I will make sure I'll never purchase another hd from Seagate and I will also make it a point to inform others of the reason.

Also like to say thanks to the others in this forum for their help.

You are quite correct, but "Joe Public" doesn't (want to) understand that.

All he sees is a quick fix.

Doesn't matter that is takes $10k s/w and months of research to solve it!
