I disagree. There are many manufactured drives with common types of failures. The only reason we see so many of the 7200.11 is because Seagate are the largest manufacturers of hard disk drives so there are more of them. Fortunately when the 7200.11 fails, data is still intact and relatively simple to get back with the right tools, unlike many other faults with many other drives.

I saw the post from pcimage on 6 Jan and contacted them to recover the data from a three-week old Seagate 7200.11 500GB HDD that failed in November - the seemingly common problem of the disk suddenly not being detected by the system BIOS on boot up. In case this feedback is helpful to others, I'm happy to report they provided a very efficient and effective service with good communications throughout, and most importantly - I got all my data back!
