is my Hitachi SATA drive broken, please help!

January 10th, 2009, 0:44

I have HTS541616J9SA00 160Gb Hitachi Laptop HDD.
I use to replace old HDD on my Toshiba M100. After installing Express Media Player, it generates new LBA address to 137Gb only, after searching on google, i found out that the isolinux from Express Media Player only use 28bit addressing.

I try to recover HPA to Native HPA (160Gb) but failed, and now my Laptop won't recognized my HDD, the LBA is 0, and I dont know what to do. I try to reprogram the firmware but I don't know why.

The HDD should be fine physically, no clicking sound etc...

So, anyone, if you have same drive and spare me the ROM/Firmware content, and show me how to restore my HDD, I will be grateful.

Here's the data :
Model : HTS541616J9SA00
MLC : DA1587

Thanx again.

I would send you the firmware if you tell me how you plan to upload it to the disk. I dont want to waste my time.

People still think the firmware is only a flash like dvd player... P.s. You're only one step from loosing the drive forever.
