Hi guys

I have WD10EACS which power on and off, similar to my last post except, when i hotswap with identical pcb I could check all modules with UDMA and all seems to be fine except:
-When try to extract data using DE clone/reverse clone all "Black" block unable to access data.
-Check head found head 2, 6 and 7 failed

My question is , are these heads really tested as failed or because I hotswapped the pcb and wrongly tested as failed?
Tried head map (disable 2, 6 and 7)and clone wont work. Or do I have no choice except Head exchange? This damn drive is hard to come by so have to make sure it is ncessary.
I will post the pcb photo later, it is i think first generation WD10EACS with square marvell pcb, strangely UDMA detected the drive, but not the triangle pcb.

Thanks for any help.

First, be sure that you boot the donor drive with the PCB from the bad drive, if you can.

Note that you cannot do a smart hot swap and selectively turn off heads with the Marvel series. You have to replace or fix the the heads and then image the drive.

I haven't been able to find a work-around to this problem.

The drive wont boot with its original pcb, continuously faint clicking and shutdown. Donor PCB working fine only if HOTSWAP and able to check all modules and they are all fine.

I read from this wd10eacs-00zjb0-t10922.html this is HULK family, with similar or same problem. According to BlackST its translator problem, but the strange thing is translator MOD seems to be ok.

thank's

The mod can be ok - readable, but with erratic data in it. Sometimes happens.
