I have the following problem and I wanted to ask you professionals to view.
I have a damaged disk WD3000JD-98KLB0. Headers clicked when you turn on a disk loses speed.
Disk I sent to the professionals in our country (Czech Republic) and the verdict was such that the data do not save, because it has permanently damaged the service area.

I'd like to ask you professionals, whether it is possible to save data from the disk when the damaged service area.

In the event that this would be possible, I will be grateful for any contact the person who would know.

I seriously doubt it is the SA that is damaged in this case.

If SA is damaged it is very hard/if possible to get the data from that drive.

If you have doubts, ship it to another firm for evaluation.

Your english is not very clear. You say hard drive clicks when powered, and by loosing speed i assume you mean the spindle motor stops? This is a symptom of head damage, but could be related to another fault, but as harddrivespecialist says, you can send to another form for a evaluation.

Has disk been opened?

If SA is destroyed or unreadable, do you think there is any way to read data such as reading directly from the plates?

If SA is gone, if you have million $ to spend, yes someone can read off the platters the data - or better, is claimed to be possible. Beside rumors and bullshit, the answer actually is NO, with some very few exceptions.

Reading directly from platters? What did u got only a beautiful magnetic pattern from the media using an STM or MFM,

but after that doesnt meaning "data" and u know data its not stored secuencially, u only could gets "-->" <---" Flux changes, " Servo Marks, GAP;ID, Sync.." etc fields only but that doesn it mean "data", should be coded after that, and to digital signal bits to bytes , and after that u got a gigiant "bytes" of all platters, and then what? u need the File system to find where the specific data starts ...so

In a few words : DON'T DREAM.

Ask another pro. Hope the drive was not tampered or screwed for a second opinion. And don't ask for a 100$ recovery.

We did recover data from new WD drives with MD couple times but it was expensive and clients were looking just for several important files
