Hello all,

I have a WD800 model WD800BB-53CAA0

It started clicking then died. I have some of my art files, my son's 5th birthday party & first day of school pix as well as the last pix of my now deceased Mother on it & would love to salvage that data. .. .. Suggestions?

Would that be a bad controller board losing power? Heads causing clicking? I am good at electronics repair & am comfortable disassembling the drive if need be - please advise!!!

Thanks a million!!!

Don't assume its a pcb problem. These drives have plently of head and surface problems.

Most probably head/surface. A pro is safe, DIY is risky. Your memories, your choice. No comment and no advice.

100% agree.
If you need data you should go to pro and pay for it.
Unfortunately so many idiots around the world think that Data Recovery is easy  ...nothing personal to author.
