Hello;

I have a Seagate Hard Disk with bad sectors and I would like to recover the information from it. I wonder if any of you have tried http://www.jpcentury.com/pro_list02.aspx?cid=C_00000004 that hardware to make a copy of the whole disk and then try to recover the information from the copy.

I have tried to do a copy of the disk with different software, like hddup (demo version) but I am having the same problem with all of them: they start ok but after a little while the drive becomes unready; and then it will not recover anything else. I believe is because the bios deactivates the drive because if I try to do it again, I cannot find it anymore.

I will appreciate any advise that you could give me.

BTW, does anyone know how much the hddup full version costs ?

Thanks in advance,

You need a help of the pro. It could be inexpensive at this point, but price will go up as you could create more damage to disk surface.

Why would you want to buy a piece of kit like this for one case?

I have several Deepspar Disk Imagers (look them up) which are software and hardware solutions.

It may be as simple as bad sectors on your drive, or it may be a bad head which causes the imaging to stop, in which case you will need to get the heads swapped (do not even consider doing this yourself).

PM me if your interested in me cloning your drive for you at a reasonable cost.

Cheers

Sean

No software will help in this state I think. You can recover data from an IMAGE only if you succeed (beside the errors).
P.S. while attempting to read the "bads" you make things worse as 1) if there is surface damage, the head will go right onto it and 2) the relocation mechanism will bring the drive to stop working soon...
